VALUE VOLUNTEER TIME
Every minute spent stuck in a meeting that could be an email is a minute that could be spent doing something productive, or better yet, spending time living your life doing the things you love with the people you love. As RVC, Jasper will make sure that our regional meetings only include items which are valuable and that assist leaders in running their country committees. Information which is complex or can be easily understood in writing will be sent via email or through other asynchornous means with opportunities to seek clarification at regional meetings and by replying to the communication.
HEARING YOUR VOICES
We've all taken on leadership responsibilities in this organization. Jasper's running because he wants to make everybody's job easier so they can focus more on the things that will best help their team get as many votes back to the US as possible so we can be the biggest possible part of the winning Democratic coalition we need to build. As such, your experiences and opinions on how your lives can be made easier will be critical to getting to where we want to go. Jasper will seek suggestions and take good suggestions on.
LIGHTEN THE BUREAUCRATIC LOAD
The RVC has the ability to give leaders more things to do which adds additional work to their load, or lighten the load by lessening the amount of complicated reports leaders need to fill out, especially unneccecary and unproductive ones. Where reporting of information is necessarry, by making the system as easy and as non-bureaucratic as possbile. Nobody signs up to take the lead in DA because they want to be doing lots of paperwork and reports. As RVC, Jasper will lighten the load allowing you to focus more on the initiatives your country committee is working on.
YOUR PARTNER, NOT YOUR BOSS
The way the RVC interacts with leaders throughout the region is incredibliy important in how productive the region will be as a whole. In DA, we are all volunteers who give our time because we know our cause is important and just. Furthermore, local leaders on the ground are likely to understand the specific national or local differences that impact what works in the respective locality, especially in a region as diverse as the Asia-Pacific. As RVC, Jasper will empower leaders to make the right decisions for their respective country committees and to choose the right initiatives. He will be a strong partner in supporting every country committee while respecting the localized knowledge and time of our volunteers.
KEEPING IN CONTACT
Short minute-long updates in front of the entire at monthly regional meetings aren't condusive to a good partnership between the RVC and country committees. As RVC, Jasper will aim to holding a monthly meeting with country committee chairs (and members of their teams, if they choose, or a designee) to discuss the activities of each country committee in-depth, in both the planning and implementation stages. While these meetings would be optional for country committee chairs, they would provide the opportunity for serious discussion can actually lead to involvement and improvements. Furthermore, Jasper will aim to host unstructured drop-in sessions at convenient times once a week to discuss any matters that might not warrant dedicated meetings, but are worthy of discussion.
LEADERSHIP PRESENCE
It shouldn't just be up to country committee leaders to update the RVC. To be most effective, the relationship must go both ways. As RVC, Jasper will aim to attend as many country committee executive committee meetings as possible in order to work with each country's respective team, and be available to answer questions, with a goal of attending at least one meeting per country per quarter. This will mean that the RVC can stay up-to-date with the activities in your country committee while keeping your entire team up-to-date on the relevant going-ons at the regional, global, and wider Democratic family level.
